At Eleusinia, a psilocybin retreat in Mexico, the focus on the individual begins long before the actual retreat itself. Eleusinia is unique, even among psychedelic retreats, because we designed our program with a focus on the health benefits of psilocybin alongside the spiritual practice. With our assisted meditation techniques and mushroom cultivation course, visitors leave with the confidence and skills needed to explore independently. Our techniques have multiple applications, including exploring consciousness, meditation and enhancing mental well-being. Furthermore, these techniques also apply to stimulating neuroplasticity and managing neuropathic pain, inflammation and migraines.
The process begins with a visit to the website, which provides details about the actual retreat and its general schedule. It also includes a large selection of articles and resources covering the use and application of psychedelics. You can also find personal stories, FAQs, and pricing information. We place an emphasis on science and education so that those interested can make an informed decision. In addition, spots in upcoming retreats can be reserved directly on our sign-up page.
Our sign up process involves a one on one Zoom meeting with our founder to discuss individual needs and expectations. Participating in a psychedelic retreat may not be appropriate if you are taking certain medications or have specific conditions. You can read more about this on our FAQ page.
After booking your retreat, you are now eligible to join our private network where you can converse with past participants and/or gain additional knowledge about the experience. This hands-on process allows everyone to have a good idea on what to expect and adds a level of comfort for those nervous about the experience. Our network is also a great resource later for support and discussion of the psychedelic experience and the ups and downs of the cultivation process.
Location- Valle De Bravo
The retreat villa is located in Valle De Bravo, a charming colonial-era town situated on a lake approximately 2 hours west of Mexico City. The closest airport with flights from the United States is in Mexico City (“MEX”). Airport transfers to and from the retreat are included in the cost of your stay. We recommend arriving a day and staying at an airport hotel, either the Courtyard Marriott or the Hilton. Our transport service will pick you up the next morning at either of these hotels to bring you to the retreat villa. Return flights should be scheduled for after 2:00 p.m., if returning back to the United States on the last day of the retreat.
The villa is quite spacious, luxurious, and open concept. Every room features king or queen beds with private bath. The tap water in the villa is filtered. The cost of the retreat is all-inclusive, including all meals, snacks, maid-service, massages, yoga, and Wi-Fi. The retreat is strictly nonalcoholic, and all meals are plant based. Most of our group activities occur in the outdoor living areas of the villa or gazebo with a view of the surrounding mountains.
All meals at the retreat are a group affair. We eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner together and take advantage of the time to discuss important aspects of the retreat. Meals are all plant based, and the drinks served are all non-alcoholic tropical “aguas frescas”.
You can expect to encounter Mexican classics like elotes, sopas, and guacamole. We also serve a plethora of different fresh salsas with tropical fruits like mango, jicama, guava, and pineapple. You might find yourself trying something completely new, like hibiscus tacos or jackfruit carnitas.
The first mushroom session, the (5g) macrodose, occurs on day #2 of the retreat. We skip a solid breakfast and serve coffee and juice in preparation for the consumption of the mushroom. We avoid solid food before the experience to avoid stomach upset. Our curandera administers the mushrooms in accordance with customary rituals and our yoga coach walks you through breathing exercises to assist your journey.
The experience itself takes place in common areas of the villa together with our guides who help facilitate the experience.
We encourage participants to make use of the various stations that have been setup throughout the villa. The goal is to experience the effects in a controlled, yet varied environment. The stations take into consideration different aspects of the psychedelic experience, whether visual, auditory, or emotional. The goal is to gain the most diversified experience. Snacks and juices are also provided at pre-determined intervals. Towards the tail end of the session, after most of the effects have faded, we make use of other areas of the villa for further reflection.
At the end of the session, we perform a closing ceremony and serve a late lunch. Most people will likely want to rest and contemplate their experience at this stage, but everyone is different. Those who want to participate in group discussions can do so while others can take the time to absorb and reflect on their own as they deem appropriate. Late dinner and opportunities to relax, reflect, or discussions follow.
The Minidose Session
The second mushroom experience, the (1g) minidose, occurs on day #4, after starting the day with a yoga/meditation session and a light lunch. The session occurs in the afternoon and is coupled with an intense breathwork session. The morning after breakfast is open for exploring the town, including the local market and sights. Mastering the breathing exercises to enhance the effects of the minidose is the first step to developing a meditation practice utilizing psychedelic assistance.
VR And Psilocybin
One of the session stations includes a VR experience where you can try out fantastical landscapes with colorful patterns and unique music. VR can be a great tool for redirecting your attention or priming the psyche to produce certain effects.
Yoga And Breathwork
We have several yoga and breathwork sessions throughout the retreat, each with a specific purpose to enhance the experience. We use yoga and stretching to establish a firm mind/body connection before entering a psychedelic state, while some breathing techniques are used to calm the nervous system and center the mind. A brisker breathwork pace enhances the effects of the smaller dose at the minisession. We have designed our breathwork sessions to be repeatable at home, so the session includes coaching on the use of breathwork apps.
