Andrea’s Story: From Heaviness to Lightness

Andrea described her life before Eleusinia with the image of a balloon tied to an anvil. After breast cancer, a painful divorce, and years of carrying heavy burdens, she felt tethered and weighed down. Even when she was finally cut free, she found herself floating untethered, scared, and without joy. Her story is about how psilocybin and DMT gave her the chance to finally rise, to release what was stuck, and to rediscover the simple, childlike freedom of floating.

Surviving Hardship

In her conversation on the Eleusinia Podcast, Andrea shares openly about surviving a cancer diagnosis and treatment, raising children while enduring profound personal upheaval, and the long years that followed where she pushed forward without ever finding peace. Anxiety about the future and depression tied to the past kept her from living fully in the present. It was her lifelong friend who encouraged her to begin researching psychedelic healing, and together they arrived at Eleusinia.

Opening to Psilocybin

Andrea describes their arrival at the retreat as both nervous and hopeful. The group practices, the warm support from facilitators, and the intentional ceremonies helped her surrender to the experience. During her psilocybin macrodose day, she felt her body processing what she had long held inside, and when she opened her eyes, she was surrounded by mountains, wind, and the beauty of the natural world. She recalls visions of animals, swirling birds, and a deep sense of peace she had not felt in years.

Joy in the DMT Journey

Her DMT journey was different: geometric patterns unfolded into the vision of a little girl on a bicycle. For Andrea, that image carried the essence of joy she thought she had lost. Returning home, she even had her bicycle tuned up for the first time in years, a symbolic step into embracing life again.

The Power of Friendship

Andrea also reflects on the profound role of her friend in the process. They witnessed each other’s vulnerable moments, supported one another through difficult releases, and celebrated the openings that followed. The love and trust they shared gave Andrea the courage to go deeper.

A Beginning, Not an Ending

What stands out most in Andrea’s story is her recognition that psychedelic work is not a quick fix. As she says, it is not one and done, but the beginning of a longer process. She continues to feel more peace, less anxiety, and greater presence, with the sense that each step forward is a part of the work.
