A Family Affair at Eleusinia
When most people imagine a psychedelic retreat, they picture individuals seeking healing on their own. Jerry’s story is different. A retired Air Force veteran, Jerry attended Eleusinia not by himself, but alongside his wife and daughter. Their decision to experience psilocybin and DMT together as a family turned into a profound journey of healing, connection, and renewal.

From Military Service to Seeking Healing
Jerry, now in his mid-sixties, is an African American man who had been living with anxiety and the lingering effects of PTSD from his years of service. After trying counseling and even a series of ketamine treatments that left him feeling disconnected, he began to explore other options. His daughter, also an Air Force veteran, was on a similar path of seeking relief from PTSD. When she discovered Eleusinia, she suggested they go together. Jerry’s wife, at first skeptical, chose to join them, not wanting her loved ones to take this journey without her. What followed was an eight-day retreat that became, in Jerry’s words, “a family affair.”
Spiritual Insights and Inner Peace
From the first psilocybin ceremony, Jerry felt both apprehension and hope. He described a powerful vision where he sensed God calling him to share love, healing, and stewardship for the planet. Later, during his DMT experience, he confronted deep feelings of unworthiness and fear, only to encounter a lifelong protector figure who brought him peace, gratitude, and a profound sense of acceptance. “I started to realize that I am loved and I am blessed, and I have this guardian that will always be there,” he said.
Reconnecting as Husband and Wife
One of the most moving parts of Jerry’s journey was how the retreat strengthened his relationships. On a later psilocybin day, he spent hours reconnecting with his wife in ways they had not experienced in years. “We walked around and we hugged and we talked more so than we had done in a long time,” he recalled. For Jerry, it was not just healing for himself, but a renewal of love and closeness within his marriage.
A Stronger Bond With His Daughter
The retreat also left him feeling closer to his daughter. Even when they were on separate paths during ceremonies, the shared experience became a lasting bond. Reflecting afterward, Jerry said, “It is another journey that we went on together, something we can always look back on and trust in one another.”
Reflections on Healing and Hope
Jerry’s reflections after the retreat are filled with gratitude, peace, and a desire to see more people experience the potential of psychedelics. “If more people did mushrooms, many of the problems we are dealing with in society would evaporate because we would see the importance of love, cooperation, and respect for nature,” he said.
His story is a reminder that healing is not always a solitary path. For Jerry, his wife, and his daughter, attending a psilocybin retreat at Eleusinia opened doors not just to personal transformation, but to deeper love and unity.
