Living with Fibromyalgia: Mindy’s Journey
When chronic pain becomes part of your life, it does not only affect you. It changes the rhythm of your relationships, your family, and your sense of self. For Mindy, living with fibromyalgia meant years of exhaustion, countless medical appointments, and long stretches spent in bed instead of living the full life she once had. But she refused to give up. And when she discovered Eleusinia, she and her husband Bobby decided to make the journey together to explore the possibility of psilocybin for fibromyalgia.

Searching for Relief Through Psilocybin
Mindy came to Eleusinia searching for relief from fibromyalgia pain. Bobby came as her support, not expecting to need healing himself. What unfolded was more than either of them could have imagined. Their time at the retreat was not only about psilocybin, but about courage, partnership, and the surprising ways psychedelics can touch even the quiet corners of our lives.
Mindy described her first ceremony as both overwhelming and liberating. She shared, “At that moment, I felt no pain. I felt no stress, no anxiety. I felt light as a feather. It was the best feeling I had in years, like years. I didn’t even know a person could feel like that.” For someone who had been carrying the weight of fibromyalgia for so long, that glimpse of freedom was life changing.
Bobby’s Unexpected Healing
Bobby, who originally planned to sit out the ceremonies, decided to take part. What he discovered was equally profound. He recalled a moment when he looked at a hillside and the words “let it go” appeared before him. “At that moment it got really powerful and I had a feeling come over me that is hard to put into words. It was a feeling of freedom, of just pure joy. And I instantly thought of my mother and my father and my sister and everybody I love. What I would give for them to feel what I was feeling.” His journey revealed that even those who come to support a loved one can uncover deep, unexpected healing.
Healing as a Couple
Their story is also one of partnership. Mindy worried about holding Bobby back, yet when she finally joined him during ceremony, the connection between them became a source of comfort and joy. Bobby said, “When her face appeared in my story, it was instant smile, instant happy. I knew she was good from then on, and she was.” Together they laughed, released burdens, and discovered new strength in each other.
Lessons in Compassion and Self-Care
The retreat offered Mindy more than temporary relief. Through psilocybin, breathwork, and shared experiences like the ice bath and mountain hike, she began to find compassion for herself after years of medical trauma and doubt from others. She explained, “What this trip has done as a whole has really taught me how to have compassion for myself and grace. I was never able to do that before, and that’s the biggest thing that has come away from this trip.”
For Bobby, it was the realization that it is not only acceptable but necessary to care for himself too. “It just showed me that it’s okay to care about yourself and to take a little moment for yourself, and it’s not okay. It’s necessary,” he reflected.
Why Their Story Matters
Their story is a reminder that psilocybin can be a powerful tool not only for those suffering from conditions like fibromyalgia, but also for the loved ones who walk alongside them. Healing does not happen in isolation. Sometimes it unfolds most beautifully in connection.
At Eleusinia, interviews like this one are always recorded weeks or months after a guest’s visit, never on location, and often under pseudonyms to honor privacy. The podcast is audio-only, but the voices of guests like Mindy and Bobby bring these stories vividly to life.
